ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The electrical system is not much different than any other airplane. It took me about 8 hours to wire the airframe. I still have to wire the instrument panel. I put the electrical panel on the right side of the cockpit because there was no room on the main instrument panel. I chose circuit breaker switches to eliminate excess parts and weight. The few CB's on the bottom of the panel are for flaps, trim, gauges, and instrument lights etc
Located in the aft fuselage is a 25AH gel cell. On the engine will be a 40 amp vans alternator and lightweight starter. Also note I chose the Vans line of gauges as they are quite a bargain. Very high quality, look good, and don't cost much. Thank you Van!

This is the side panel. Still to be installed is one more CB for the Hot Battery Buss. Note the DB-9 Connector. This is the DATA LOADER port for changing ECCS firmware. Next to it is a Master Clear reset button and data verification light.

The side electrical panel is hinged at the bottom to allow for easy inspection and maintenace.

Here the panel is open to show access. Note the copper bus bars that share power between the circuit breaker switches.

This picture shows the wire bundle that runs from the panel to various locations in the airframe.

Here you can see how I mounted the ammeter shunt as well as the firewall power passthru.

The finished panel with engraved overlays installed.
